We like to think of vaseline as the OG beauty hero. The affordable drugstore staple has been around for 150 years — and for good reason. Petroleum jelly has some seriously life-changing beauty uses and thanks to its thick consistency can work wonders on the skin, especially when it gets cold out.
Recommended by dermatologists, vaseline is made from petroleum jelly and is safe for even the most sensitive skin types. From moisturising to being used as a highlight, this multifunctional product really can and does do it all – here are some of our favourite ways to use it.
1.Face Mask
Vaseline works wonders layered over moisturiser in the evening. Simply smooth it over any dry areas, go to sleep, and wake up to healthy, hydrated skin. However, just keep in mind that while Vaseline might soothe the irritation from dry skin or chapped lips, it won’t moisturize on its own, so it’s always best used a seal for you moisturising products underneath.
2.Conditioner
Use Vaseline to tame frizz and seal dry split ends. Since it’s safe to use on the face, you don’t have to worry about irritation if you get any on your skin.
3.Added into Your Moisturiser
Make your winter moisturizer work that much harder by mixing it with Vaseline. It’s safe to use around the eye area and it’ll also work to combat any dry flakiness.
